President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko vetoed the law providing for the allocation of Hr 1 bn to fight the influenza.
As MIGnews.com.ua reported, this law has provoked the conflict between Viktor Yushchenko and Yulia Tymoshenko. Thus, at a recent press conference, commenting on Prime Minister's request (backed up by voting in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine) to allocate 1 billion of hryvnias to overcome the epidemic of influenza in the country, the President was outraged and warned that he would not yield to the blackmail of the Prime Minister and he will do "the same with the law as I did with the law on Euro-2012 ... "
Today President of Ukraine kept his word and vetoed the law on the allocation of Hr 1 bn to fight the flu, the first deputy head of the Presidential Secretariat Oleksandr Shlapak reported today at a briefing.
According to him, the President has not signed this law and returned it to Verkhovna Rada with his proposals. At the same time, Oleksandr Shlapak said that the President does not oppose the allocation of these funds – he only disagrees with the source of the money.
Viktor Yushchenko believes that such costs should not be covered by the emission of the National Bank. Therefore, the President proposes to increase the state budget deficit for 2009 by Hr 1 bn and apply to the banking system and the NBU to help financing this deficit. By Ukrainian News
