Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is satisfied with dynamics of the Ukrainian-Russian relations. She said this at the beginning of the expanded part of the 5th meeting of Ukraine-Russia intergovernmental committee on economic cooperation.
Ukraine and Russia have completed the development of long-term contract, calculated for 2011-2010 to supply Russia's nuclear fuel to Ukraine, said Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. Fuel and Energy Ministry expects to sign up long-term contract between the power generating company Energoatom and the company TVEL (Russia) to supply nuclear fuel for Ukrainian nuclear power plants beginning from 2011.
Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko again said that Ukraine will ensure uninterrupted transit of natural gas to Europe.
In turn, Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin claimed at the meeting that Russia hopes to increase trade with Ukraine. He noted that the trade turnover between the countries has declined significantly during the financial crisis.
Ukraine stands for cooperation with Russia in the field of nanotechnology. Tymoshenko said at a press conference with Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin that Ukraine and Russia have agreed on the adjustment of joint scientific works in the field of nanotechnology. According to Yulia Tymoshenko, the sphere of nanotechnology is one of the important directions of Ukrainian-Russian cooperation.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko hopes that the government of Ukraine and Russia will sign a protocol on the supply of goods for industrial cooperation for 2010 until the end of 2009.
The Head of Ukraine’s government expects for the development and intensification of Ukrainian-Russian relations in the sphere of space. In particular, she noted the positive dynamics in the issue of Ukraine's participation in the system of GLONASS (Russia's satellite system).
Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko supports the cooperation between Ukraine and Russia in the construction of highways. According to Yulia Tymoshenko, other countries may be involved into the construction of highways.
Following the results of the fifth meeting of the Committee on Economic Cooperation of Ukrainian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Russia Yulia Timoshenko and Vladimir Putin have signed the protocol.
"Those 11 priorities that were set by us for the first time when we met with the new government in Ukraine - the 11 priorities today are being implemented step by step in life" - said Vladimir Putin.
